Design errors - ISRAEL




Wrong colors in this rainbow- correct on the other stamp.
 


1962

The stamp from Israel shows the Peacock Kingfish 'Pygoplites diacanthus', not the Imperial Angelfish 'Holocanthus imperator', as can be seen on the correct stamp from the Maldive Islands.
 


1963

Wrong : Haliaetus - Correct : Haliaeetus.
 


1969

King David with two left hands. Not an error however, as this was correctly copied from a painting of Chagall.
 


1970

Wrong : Orchis Laxiflorus - correct : Orchis Laxiflora. Correct on the Jersey stamp.
 


1976

The stamp shows a kamanja (spike fiddle) not known before 900 A.D. although the tab refers to Ahasverus whose reign commenced in 485 B.C.
